That's one truly rare and weird vehicle.

rob_man, May 24, 8:20am
De Tomaso seem to have liked the 351 Cleveland motor, the Pantera had the same engine no!
The description in the ad isn't strictly accurate, "absolutely no rust" my arse. I saw two rust areas in the pics.

zephyrheaven, May 24, 8:21am
I'd sell my mum for a Pantera - that Joey bloke from that eye soiling TV show "friends" has quite a collection of them as far as I remember

zephyrheaven, May 24, 8:27am
& lets get one thing straight, Im no supercar guy - never ever liked one at all till I saw a Pantera with the right wheels & the fact its Clevo/truck engine powered is even more in keeping with my redneck ilk

rob_man, May 24, 8:30am
Redneck pasta. that pretty much sums them up. What happened to that guy from Hawkes Bay who was making repro Panteras! they were pretty convincing.

for_an_angel, May 24, 8:32am
Interior and alot of the exterior in front of the rear window remind me of a Jensen Interceptor

gunhand, May 24, 8:34am
interesting, but it looks like a cortina, falcon, capri and a tr7 crashed into each other and came up with that.
Kinda ugly nice tho.

grangies, May 24, 8:38am
It's weird and ugly, but strangishly cool.

I've only ever seen a Pantera, briefly once in New Lynn, Auckland.

thejazzpianoma, May 24, 8:41am
Funnily enough a couple of years back there were several imported Pantera's sold on Trademe for very reasonable money over the course of a few months.

fordcrzy, May 24, 8:43am
is it a Bertone design! looks like it.
i wonder where its bumpers are!

extrayda, May 24, 9:04am
Reminds me of a Lancia Beta Spyder in a lot of ways.
Would love to own a Pantera, they had one at a specialist car yard place in Auckland City somewhere a very long time ago.Cool looking car with the benefit of an easy to maintain ford motor, or could be re-powered by a chev if you wanted to go fast. (only kidding, would not hack up a classic like that ;-)

flat_white_ltd, May 24, 9:08am
Surely looks Bertone ( even though I don't think it is .) . but to my eye.it looks like a 1500 Fiat X19 had it's bones jumped by an early Merc.
(Didn't deTomaso try to send some obscure european country's aristocaracy broke.by convincing them to indulge him underwriting his supercars!)
.I think the "TOMATO"(P.P.)Panterra is still hooning around Parnell,. cool cars,. even if they never really got it together .

xacoon, May 24, 9:17am
pantera was a sweet car, Vince Neil made them even more legendary

sr2, May 24, 9:38am
Andy Culpin at Race FX is the NZ Pantera guru; there are more here than you realise, one is even raced in the Targa on a regular basis. My brother has been restoring one as a slightly modernised version with an emphasis on being a car that is comfortable, reliable and able to be used as an everyday driver. We can??

trogedon, May 24, 10:00am
I had a lecturer who was a commercial real estate agent (and still a Jack the lad) in the USA in the early 70s. He was going to do a deal that would net him $13k. With that he was going to buy a brand new Pantera. The deal never came off??

varkie02, May 24, 10:22am
My old man had a De Tamasso Pantera back in the 80s his mate had a T Tamasso an his mates brother had a C Tamasso and yes they were good cars and fast but had a problem with stopping and road handling in my eyes these cars are crap better buying a 68 VW

foxdonut, May 24, 11:48am
Actually i'm pretty sure I saw this car, or at least one of these last time I was in Sydney at Classic Throttle. Which is basically the Mecca for all things desirable in Sydney, even more so than Bondi beach (or Oxford Street on a Friday night if you swing that way)

foxdonut, May 24, 11:51am
I see a punch up between Ferrari 400i and Masser 222 vs early 80's falcodore.

un_known, May 24, 11:37pm
yeh i thought cortina crossed with a ferrari 412

pollymay, May 25, 12:40am
Looks like an old ford with the engine to back it up lol, Pantera is what I'd have

321mat, May 25, 2:25am
Hmmm, I thought it had the front of a 1976 Ford Granada, the rear of a 1974 Vauxhall Magnum, and the dash from a early 70's Falcon.

lookoutas, Mar 31, 11:43am
You were right.
