Wellington - any decent wheel alignment places?

unclejake, May 19, 11:10am
Is there anyone left that will do a proper job! I need the full workup done on a Nissan Patrol with two live axles.

I figure (by tyre wear) that at least one of the front hubs is going to need a swivel kit or summing (camber looks to be negative on the RF wheel)

why haven,t any of the old school wheel alighnment places opened up again, with all the lack of confidence you see/hear about the "big" tyre places with the "laser alignment", i would have thought there was a market there. our local guy has closed up, he was good but i think he just retired, leaving only the "big" guys in town, when you ask who's the best you never get a convincing answer regards the quality of the work ,just comments on the price for whats done. after you've been there you soon get the knockers telling you " wouldn't take me wheelbarrow there". are they really that bad, surely not !

I think they are 'really that bad' but I guess that is what happens when you pay a tech $16(!) per hour, because if you paid him any more you couldn't compete with the guy around the corner who also does 'free' puncture repairs.

We used a well known Wellington independent alignment specialist for a race car about two years ago and they couldn't even set the toe to to our instructions. The car wouldn't handle on the turn in and in the end we did it ourselves and found the toe was set 2mm different than what we asked for

yeah WERE good, now it's brendon foot motors. took them 3 farking hours to get me 2 supercat 14" tyres. assured me they were in stock. 2 hours later apologised and said had to source it elsewhere. we sat n waited in the hot boling custy lounge. they had fan and air con which neither were on. if car wasnt jacked up tireless on the rim, woulda just hopped in and took it to tonys across the road and paid 10 less. fark me for not thinking straight that day.

with that many pot holes and sh1t road around i save my $70 bucks considering i can get a whole set of near new tyres with steel rims from pickapart for 96 bucks for the set of 4 i carefully hand picked. the above was in desperate need as it was a puncture in the corner wall which is unrepairable and i got a long road trip the next day that i preplanned months ago n can't postpone. else i'd be at pick a part.
