8ohm house speakers connected to 4ohm car amp?

greg.round.plu, May 18, 2:28am
would it work or blow either the speakers or amp!

jasongroves, May 18, 2:53am
Why would you!.is the question I have to ask.

jasongroves, May 18, 2:55am
You could wire them in parallel if you wish to create a 4Ohm load.

no problems.

formusic in the shed. 12v power only, have a pioneer 60w car amp, portable minidisk player and a pair of Solid 75w bookshelf. So do speakers wired in parallel halve the ohms and speakers wired in series double the ohms!

Something like that.
Theres a wealth of info here, including calculators etc:

Won't hurt anything.
The effective power you will obtain will be approximately 1/4 of what you would get with equivalent 4 ohm speakers.
You will barely notice the difference.
