R,I,P Dyno operators

Its a case of just never retaining the heat from flame front, not allowing the heat in exhaust to have any influance over exhaust port tempratures.
It means the front section of exhaust runs so hot any O2 readings are inaccurate

bigfatmat1, Apr 19, 8:06am
How do you adjust timing when its a vacuum advance hitachi dist in the 88 model your list does not include dizzy mods to ecm controlled timing. your story has flaws bet you still using the same crap coil and same temp plugs since you have so much of a colder cylinder

ct9a, Apr 19, 8:18am
what other jap turbo engine could you fluff around with seemingly pointless theories!

ct9a, Apr 19, 8:18am
broken 140kw yet!

toxicgreen., Apr 19, 8:21am
Talk about make a can of worms readers,
Car can be tuned it just has to be tuned by having an anticipated highish power output,Do not use a tailpipe sensor,as a correction factor cannot be correctly known or used.
Tune with only two monitoring devices, power measuring with detonation sensing equipment,In each of the fueling/timing tuning boxessend the ECU rich (by larger fueling numbers)and add advance, note the power, dont detonate.
Then in the same box send it to the lean side of things add advance, note the power, dont detonate.Four boxes to be worked around just to get the best combonation in one tune spot.
Dyno operators are trained to believe in their O2 readings 100% an if they dont have O2,they think their hands are cut off They are trained to think if a fueling correction factor was needed it might be 3-7% across the range but if they sit on slight rich side of that all will be fine.
At the moment i can say a fueling correction factor across my motor cauld be 18% - 34% ,I wont know that till its tuned, tuned by favourable power output and avoiding detonation at all times

toxicgreen., Apr 19, 8:23am
Dizzy is original with vacume advance disconected and high rpm tho outs spot welded, Static all the way

crzyhrse, Apr 19, 8:43am
And correct punctuation, capitalisation and sentence structure.

budgel, Apr 19, 9:03am
All this is being done on a race car right!

Got any race results!

I have an open mind to your procedures, and wonder if your post would have been better received if the first post hadnt been so much of a put down. (I'm not arguing the rights and wrongs of dyno operators/tuners VS computer techs.)

I think an ideal situation for you would be to find a dyno operator who didnt mind your computer guy making adjustments to your setup. It could end up being of advantage to each of you.

There is always room for a fresh look at any problem, but dont forget that experience has a hell of a lot of value too.

Keep posting, I find it interesting as long as I can see the technicalities without the egos getting in the road.

My brain hurts.

toxicgreen., Apr 19, 9:26am
I understand yr first paragraph, and sure i might of got less stress if my thread wer,nt so on the nose, but either or, one spelling mistake and its all on any way.
I,ve gone out of my way to cool the engine at the exspence of cooking the exhaust system, and its working but the exspence is, air fill density in cylinder cannot be anticipated and exhaust info cannot be trusted.
All good baby steps at the mo and making progress,

wrong2, Apr 19, 9:26am
but theres no way for anyone to know this

your posting it like fact & getting the replies such a claim generates

spouting without proof will NEVER get respect. especially from the knowledgeable. which making a thread like this is what your trying to do

toxicgreen., Apr 19, 9:32am
There cant be any proof, if i showed the last dyno guys map and installed it,,he would deny he made it,the car would cough and gag and you non believers would just say i made a bad map to make my car look better now

bigfatmat1, Apr 19, 10:23am
if ya theories so good ya wouldnt be spouting off here about all this knowledge you would be securing investors not putting down people who know. Static timing all the way but yet you say you adjust the timing boxes after fuelling make ya mind up what is it. So many holes in ya stories. Still cant provide proof or a ecu make. = FAIL

toxicgreen., Apr 19, 11:00am
Static timing in a mechanical sence at the dizzy, As rich an lean mixes burn at differnt speeds we set fueling 1st to feel better power then bring timing along in ECU to enhance power feel for that fuel box, mind is made up,yr=FAIL feels so good now ye ha grand ma.So many kill joys with the head in sand.
Everyone thought the earth was flat and a Atom cauld,nt be split.
A few wks ago see meremere drags, some guy sold his blower gave his motor some random liquid nitro an some other combanation,, A good second quicker than the blower guys now,Go hard anyone who thinks outside the square
I saw a picture of a V8 supercar motor sitting on a engine dyno recently an the thing that made me envious was seeing sensor on each of the 8 exhaust headers, each sensor was about two inchs from the head,, Dam i,d love that right now

elect70, Apr 19, 11:44am
I would say all dynos useless . I saw demo of Dynatrac (i think thats the name -NZmade/designbolts on to wheel hubs with a processor )at Manfeid track, tuned a open class mini & amustang ,race cars . Watched them both being done & the power /torqueoutputs were markedly increased after just 4 pulls on it .

richardmayes, Apr 19, 11:49am
Using a dynomometer is not the only way of tuning an engine, but it is a good way of doing it.

If your computer boffin who doesn't know much about car engines comes up against a problem, what do you do then! Call the Microsoft help desk in India!

doug207, Apr 19, 12:40pm
I thought the schooling system would have some impact on the general literacy of the school kids these days.
So, you can't trust your 02 readings, but, you want more sensors! You numpty.
You have a B6T, you have magically made the engine run cooler and have somehow managed to find that it's 500 deg C instead of 900 deg C inside the cylinder, how exactly do you ascertain something like that!
I've heard some beautiful porkies before, but, this is brilliance.

ct9a, Apr 19, 1:01pm
hahaha BRO that rod on the turbo is adjustable just turn that a few times

ct9a, Apr 19, 1:04pm
aqua mist injection might be good for your cooling ideas also

un_known, Apr 19, 1:18pm
yeh ive assumed that this cylinder cooling system hes been talking about is just water injection. and if hes not running wi he damn well should be.

bigfatmat1, Apr 19, 1:24pm
So how do ya adjust ya timing when ya distributor is vacuumadvance and welded up. Its pretty common knowledge that timing needs to be adjusted to engine load, temp, rpm, baro, throttle position and Knock . Yet your simplified system running a welded dizzy standard plugs, coil, no knock system or electronic advance has showen up our greatest ever engine builders and designers. No one here is doubting the theory its as older than me infact used in tanks in the ww1 but your practical abilities are what is under fire your lack of ability to back 'your' claims up. The theory is older than you and me but your mechanical practical knowledge in the area and claims are bullshit. You consistantly ignore questions and then try and explain in confusing talk. I'll re ask again. What ecu! obviously its crap cause it has no knock control. and when was the definition of ve changed.

ct9a, Apr 19, 1:27pm

ct9a, Apr 19, 1:29pm
+1

fixed ignition timing is going to be bad for any turbo efi engine

anyone with slightest knowlegde reading this will piss them selves laughing.

mrfxit, Apr 19, 3:21pm
Brother always use to say .

If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshite

Yea ok, he MIGHT be on the right track . BUT what & how he's explaining it all . is garbage.

FFS hire a PR

kingfisher21, Apr 19, 6:30pm
YOUR brain hurts! Imagine how much toxic snots brain hurts making up all this garbage.
