That would be the right kind of thing but I don't see that one going in your price range. Pity about needing an auto as that is generally the most likely thing to cause you an expensive repair in an older car and it also kills a lot of your economy in a small vehicle. But needs must I guess!

Looks to be a very tidy example. They are reliable as a rock, cheap to run, and good around town (1500cc auto won't win you and traffic light grand prix races). That the auction has 9 unanswered questions isn't a great sign that the seller is a great communicator though.Worth looking at I think. With that many unanswered questions I probably wouldn't risk buying sight unseen.
I suspect it may slip out of your price range though. But, worth keeping an eye on.

You might want to update your profile to reflect your location. Auckland is a good thing, much more choice up there.

Holden Barina (The Opel Corsa built version) from 1994 - My partners owned her car for 6 years and nothing major has gone wrong with it :)She happy with it and if she ever sells it - it will be to buy a later version of Opel derived Barnia - I noticed today one of last Opel Derived Barinas was for sale on GM yard not much cheaper then a new Daewoo version! - These older Barinas are in demand! It was big mistake for Holden to go Daewoo for its product but I believe Opel name is coming back to Australia and hopefully NZ will follow:)

I would suggest keeping to Toyota and Nissan. Don't do the Ford as suggested, horrible little things, Don't do cheap euros, they are asking for trouble. If you could get a Sentra, Sunny or Pulsar, Corolla (unlikey), that is under the 200k mark you should be ok for some good reliable running. Only buy one that has a new WOF from a reputable garage.if you see one like Mohommad's Tyres.then retest it, likely it's a dud.And remember, test, test, test.believe nothing. And try to stay away from the arab, indian and continental sellers, they are more slippery than an eel.just a good tip.
