Had a nuisance factor of stolen plates from three ofmy employees vans that they take home over last month or so.Pain in butt. They live in different areas of Northshore and vans are parked on private property but not garaged-all less than yr old.Must be heaps druggies and petrol runners around.

Stolen plates will probably be on the increase once they change the new laws to handing in you plates if you put your registration on hold.

Oh man some people just won't listen.

Have you read the actual article I think you will find its a proposal.

That will suck unless they sort out being able to get replacement plates with your number on it since the reason I have a beat up bent and bashed straight front plate is that I have the rego on the windows (that seemed a good idea at the time) and they are not able to make a replacement unless I pay personalized plates to make a bloody red one or something with stupid extra lines on it etc.

use one way screw bolts that can only be turned clockwise and not anticlockwise. wait for report of those missing plates used for drive-offs sometimes in near future, get cops to get cctv footage from the stations the drive-offs were committed to see if the offending pumper matched any of the employees that drives the corresponding vans related to the plates.

another good way is to rivet the plate on

Proposals turn into law, just like marriage.

Not all the time, governments think of ideas all the time then weed out the implications and make decisions.

johnf_456, Apr 9, 3:45am
How so, cordless drill will sort that out with a drill bit has if you want number plates in a hurry a good old electric drill would be the way to go. They sure as hell cheap enough now.

with the cost of fuel and drive offs becoming more frequent it may only be a matter of time before they introduce a seal on the number plate screws like they have in japan.http://images.trademe.co.nz/p-

Why not list the plates on here and we can look out for them!

smac, Apr 9, 4:27am
Are the police at all interested in the fact you've had three thefts from work vehicles! You have filed this with them right!

whynot7, Oct 13, 12:59am
yea buga , it dosent work , any way they have a alloy cover over one of the screwsto stop u undoing it. unless ya bang the screw driver with a hammer . but the cops crack up if you dont have the seal intact
