only 1 car! i thought it was a F1 car!:)

zephyrheaven, Mar 23, 8:11am
thats pretty bloody awesome - most interesting thing Ive seen in modern motorsport in a few years

wouldnt mind seeing button vs lowndes in their chosen weapons face off lol

gammelvind, Mar 23, 8:13am
Just on monday some die hard V8 friends told me that there is no way an F1 car would be able to go faster than a V8 on Bathurst. Beat them by 20 sec in a 3 year old car, what would last years McLaren have done it in lol.

You're kidding me right! Its hard to believe that people can be that dumb!

gunhand, Mar 23, 8:27am
Yea but a new Nissan GTRRRRRRwith its turbos set to speed and the traction control set to stick plus the left headlight removed would b faster.

morrisman1, Mar 23, 8:29am
faster than a v8 I wouldnt be surprised but would have nothing on an f1 car

gunhand, Mar 23, 8:29am
I know, some dont lol.

gunhand, Mar 23, 8:32am
You would make a annoying noise to if you were doin 20000rpm LOL.

gammelvind, Mar 23, 8:32am
Wouldn't be close to an F1, no doubt would eat the V8's.

gammelvind, Mar 23, 8:34am
Detuned last year to 18,000. Still get the same performance from them.

socram, Mar 23, 8:57am
Nowadays, F1 racing cars sound like Playstation cars.

When most only revved to 8,000 or so, you could tell the difference between a BRM V8/12, Repco, Climax, Ferrari, Porsche, Weslake, Cosworth, Honda etc. I suppose Honda were the first ones to get them to really rev,

Now they just scream and I can't distinguish one from another!

One of the joys of classics is the noise of a V16 BRM, or a Maserati 250F or a supercharged ERA on full song.

gammelvind, Mar 23, 9:02am
If the 2013 regs do come in and they change to 1600cc 4 cylinder turbocharged units, the sound will change again, but I bet the performance will stay the same.

iginoi, Mar 23, 9:32am
Well obviously it'd beat a Supercar doing just one lap (duh) but 161 laps! Thinking THAT is dumb Lol

Anyone watch the interview with Lowndes, by Paul Murray on Sky News, Channel 90!

Very interesting.

The car was raised about 12mm, otherwise, virtually untouched.

The car was geared for Melbourne, and could only hit about 300KPH on Conrod (295 for S/Cars), would have made-up the difference on the windy-bits.
Lowndes reckoned, with longer gearing, 360KPH was on the cards.

His lap times were ;
1:52
1:49
1:49

The grin on his face when he finished said it ALL!

LUCKY F@<&ER ! ! ! ! ! !

r15, Mar 23, 11:51am
why not!f1 cars dont have a 12a monster j port in them.

1ollie, Mar 23, 12:11pm
Nah no way son a pre historic, boat anchor, bean bag pig would smoke any GTR

foxdonut, Mar 23, 1:27pm
I trust you reminded them that F1 cars are V8's right!

foxdonut, Mar 23, 1:30pm
Thats only 3 hours racing. The engines are rated at more than that as per attrition requirements. On a light tune of about 600 horse I'd say it'd be pretty easy for a Formula car to do that.

look in the pic how high they had the suspension set, 4x4-F1 lol
