Correct, however we do have Aussie members of TM.

. reducing even further the average IQ of (some of) the contributors.
Who would have thought that would have been possible !

davedog, Mar 17, 9:06pm
Call me cynical. But your son insists he didn't do anything - and the meanie cops just must be picking on him!

davedog, Mar 17, 9:16pm
This thread seems to have attracted - well for the want of better words. idiots.

What kind of example does it set when you tell your son never to co-operate with police, or never to plead gulity (even if you are) and so on.

As for the moron who blames front wheel drives for loss of traction - I can drive one most successfully without losing traction - it's a crap excuse - and if you can't drive it. don't own it.

I'd lay odds in this case - the boy did it alright, and the nice parents are going to get him off scot free. sigh.

As for kwkbrk - your attitude plain sucks. You obviously have no respect for authority and well. pffft.

Wouldn't the lesson there be 'lying' as opposed to 'standing up for yourself'!

pollymay, Mar 17, 10:23pm
I lose traction all the time in my windom towing a trailer. There is literally nothing you can do about it cause it's a big turdy FWD with a quadcam V6 that just tears the tyres to the belts if it can't get traction. My record is 160km/h without moving on one road which is just under speed cut.

And authority has met lots of decline in respect for the last few years, I talk to my grandfather and his father was an officer with said grandfather doing a short stint at one point. They carried a weapon (revolver) in the car and responded to real emergencys and dealt with little tussles and domestics amicably rather than being gun hoe with arresting, ticketing or any other shenanigans. Crashing was your own damn fault and responsibility was on the public for the most part for lots of things. Dunno if that would work anymore, swear that NZs armchair emperors are too stupid now

flitt, Mar 17, 10:37pm
Just a lesson on 'standing up' then.

townie55, Mar 17, 10:39pm
The hate of Police is certainly alive and well on this messageboard.Reading some of this thread makes me think I've been transported to a conversation at a gang pad.

To the OP, I think you probably did it - and you know it.It may not have been the mother of all burnouts but it was enough to draw attention to yourself by a nearby Policeman.Learn from it.Move on.It's not the end of the world - just one of life's little bumps along the way.You sound a reasonable person with a realistic approach to the problem to me.

I've always said to my kids that life isn't about not making a mistake - it's about making the mistake, and learning not to make the same mistake again.Good luck to you.

nikki31, Mar 19, 12:46am
if you wanna do burnouts, do it at competitions or in ya own paddock (or can cops do ya for that now too!!)

pollymay, Mar 19, 2:27am
Got the cops called on us for a burnout on private property. 4 cars and 6 cops showed up. They smelled the fresh scent of a fine in the air I guess.

If you were a cop and think that they cant take notes anywhere anytime without permission, then you were useless. And if you sent any time in court watching sentencing (other than traffic.hmmm telling that) then you would know a judge will always take a guilty plea into account when they are able, and it will be in the sentencing notes. The say nothing brigade usually turns into the tell all at the station when mates are not around, but they become tough again when released, hilarious really, and always predictable, the source of many laughs when they all want to tell a story about the beatings to mates (No point spending time in a cell without a story). Say nothing is for the guilty and lawyers trying to make a buck.Police dont actually like getting a hammering in court. And if you really want to know, 14 years, small town for the first few then the rest as a Detective, left about ten years ago.

flitt, Mar 19, 8:21am
What is this rubbish! You claim you were a policeman! Ha ha haaaaaaa!

sebagai, Mar 20, 6:59am
my brother whoose in his late 30s lit it up as he cornered right in front of two offiecers whom he didnt see and got and instant $600 fine , the car was not taken and it didnt go to court but he was damn lucky not to have it taken of him

davedog, Mar 20, 11:58am
Your response displays what kind of person you really are.

davedog, Mar 20, 6:37pm
hahahahahaha.

Yep - Plainly obvious you cannot continue rational conversation with intelligent dialogue so name calling and insults have to take precedent. I feel for your lack of conversational ability.

I got my car towed by truck to impound last week after getting pulled over my police for sustained loss of traction. They said to wait for a letter in mail with details for court hearing, but its been a week and no letter.

anyone know what is going to happen or should I be doing something! I am regretting what I did and first thing selling the silvia when out of impound. Yes you can call me names but hopefully some might give me useful advise. My first ever traffic/criminal offence, never been to court ever.

1ollie, Nov 15, 2:11pm
The wheels of justice turn slowly it may take up to a month to get the letter depending on the cop etc. If you know you are guilty and want things to hurry up just go into the police station and try talk to the officer involved

240142, Nov 15, 2:14pm
do you know what are the consequences if guilty! the officer have photos of rubber marks on the road when it happened.

240142, Nov 15, 2:17pm
no one summoned me!
I'm the owner and driver of the car.
Already got green sticker - which I'm of the understand after 28days from impound go to vtnz to get it re wofd.

But what about loss of license/conviction/diversion etc!

_peas, Nov 15, 2:17pm
I would say that you are up for a fine and a bit of disqualification. assuming that you are found guilty which you seem to be thinking you are anyway.

240142, Nov 15, 2:18pm
Any idea how big of fine and how long disqualification! considering never got any sort of conviction before and never had to go to court etc.

lookgoodfeelgr8, Nov 15, 2:19pm
My son has been through this. His car towed away, and he was handed court details at the same time.Get a good lawyer, Police withdrew the charge on my son, but he still had to pay the impound fee of $406.00 it got to a status hearing and the Police released they couldn't make it stick and withdrew, yet son cant claim costs back and that part sucks. So in short its just any other easy way for the Police to get money falsely.

240142, Nov 15, 2:22pm
So would you rather plead guilty or get a lawyer as lookgoodfeelgr8 - which one saves time/money and in long run!

Any how save from loss of license and fine! Mind you the officer claims he saw white smoke and have photos of rubber on road. (could be any other rubber not my car.)

240142, Nov 15, 2:25pm
well the officer says there was smoke.
and a photo with rubber marks.
