Its a Ford Taurus auto 98 I think, anyway it has 1st 2nd and reverse but wont go into drive at all, it used to but would miss and carry on and slip out so Id have to pull over and start again and it would be ok. Now though it doesnt go in at all and still has the miss. Someone said it could be the knock sensor whatever that is. does anyone have any ideas! as much as Id like to scrap the fugly thing I really cant afford to and I need a car!

Sounds like the usual problem those Taurus suffer-poked transmission,get transmission rebiult or scrap car and get something esle.

could be the air flow meter.you need to take ti to a mechanic and get the car scanned for a fault code

The problem is it's a Ford Taurus. In all seriousness they are piles of poo. If you can't fix it cheap cut your losses and get rid of it. You'll only be throwing good money after bad if you don't.
