. nah had thought that too. there was one local supposed to have 308 in it. what i'm realy after is any trouble's anyone has had with the conversion's.it's got the standard 2.2 which is still running strong just very thirsty. depsite having a 32/36 weber soon to be added. what i'm realy leaning toward's if i can find one. 2ltr cortina pinto. or 3.8 and auto

. how reliable and economical are these!just curious!

I had a thread about this awhile ago. most interesting idea that came up was XR6 turbo conversion. i was gonna go with the V8 but opted for the 6 instead.

. How did you go with radiator placement!

jezz43, Feb 4, 5:35pm
Havent got that far yet. firewall and floorpan have been removed. engine is just sitting in placeat the moment. getting an alloy radiator that will sit in behind the grille

why not the BT50 3.0l turbo. i can leave most cars standing at the lights & they're torquey as. $80 diesel = 560kms on average auckland traffic driving.(i drive with lead foot, especially if i'm on pole at the lights or ramp signals)

More after reliabilty as economy (i know it's a long stretch.) but tryin to squeeze as much out of a tank as possibly The original motor is still strong. tho hungry on standard car and ignition.i allso like the idea of RB20,RB 30.getting a radiator to fit without hassle is a question!

unless you're going to change the diff nothing is going to be economical, drop an 8 in there ans you think it will be less thirsty!

why not change the diff for longer legs, the 2.2 is strong still ( you say), rip the 4.9 out and drop a 3.2 in, 1st gear is plenty low enough to handle it, 'course you'll get a ticket for exceeding 104 while the speedo is still under 80 though

If you worried about your milage. My dad put 16s off a new bounty on his and it dropped the revs down heaps

rocky0169, Feb 4, 11:03pm
. thought the final drive was 3.9! i've raised the front back and put 235/75/15's on.I have been on the look out for a high ratio rear end. dropping to 3.45--3.63 would be enuf.
