Are they reliable and cheap to maintain

morrisman1, Mar 3, 12:33am
depends on the model. Some are really good, some are an abomination

Some parts aren't carried in NZ, like any manufacturer. Depends on the model as to common problems

grangies, Mar 3, 1:18am
There's plenty of Japanese car parts that aren't available in NZ too.

Mate got a late model volvo, top spec thing with a transverse 6 cylinder twin turbo engine, think it was a 2.5L! Front wheel drive.

He had untold problems with it mechanically, mostly engine related, and lots of little problems too, like light bulb holders plastic falling to bits etc. It was a Singapore import so maybe that had some part to play.

When it was going though, it was nice to drive and went like a cut cat.

Even Jazz said about Volvo parts being expensive. Now that is saying something.

Probably a clue as to engine problems.
