Finding car make and model

I have found an old car with number plate starting CX and 4 numbers - how can i find the make and model ! it is a Standard motor car vehicle but nothing else to tell me more except maybe 205 and MKIII
Searched web and cosest i get to is a estate 4 dr but this is a two door wagon with drop down tail gate - 4 cyl
any clues anyone - as to whether old plate can be used in a search - or a good site to search

If it's a Triumph Herald the maker's plate in the engine room might credit "The Standard Triumph Motor Co Ltd" - with a tag like this:

cheers was looking at the vanguards on that site earlier tonight - i think it is too big to be a 8 or 10 - unfortunately dash steering wheel , all emblems gone - i will get to it when more time and try to get more info off engine bay badge - bedtime now thank you for your help

I'd say it's pfretty much like this if you look at placement of fuel filler and holes for park lights and also quaterlight frame in door.Maybe they made the uteand also a panelvan in Aussie!

Yeap that the car alright - but differnt model - i had another photot of engine bay - battery in same position and the hood hinges and catch are identical - will sleep easy now
