I think I paid $130 for mine. Ford quoted $600 trade!

wow. $172! I had a Subaru Legacy, with only 1 key and it had that plastic thingy on the end which worked the remote locking system, which became redundant when I installed an alarm. I had a 2nd key cut without the plastic thingy and it was $8. The key had a particular cut which gave it a vey narrow bit in the middle, bit like Auckland is on the Nth Island and it used to break with alarming regularity. I used to always have a spare cut key hidden on the car.
