Quite sure you don't need them for a warrant, and please don't take it out to make your car louder. Your chances of being cool and/or getting laid will not improve.

depends when vehicle first reg in NZ if needed for a WOF, no it wont make it any louder if removed

Not ileagal for a wof but they are needed for a cert
New requirement to fail vehicles first registered in NZ from 1 May 2010 that have a catalytic converter removed where one was originally fitted (need to fit a catalytic converter or pass an emissions test at a TSDA)

removal will increase the noise but check if you have got co sensors after them if so your engine management will activate if removed

What model car is it!the exhaust specialist i use,, tells me he only has trouble with really late model exhausts.
