Pulsar, Sunny, Lucino, Sentra - all those are essentially the same.

Or if you want to step up a bit, a u14 bluebird or p11 primera are both very good vehicles.

Thinking likewise, both these vehicles generally great value for money spent. This disreguards your last line of "what to stay away from.

I'd go for the Primera. We have a P10 1.8 which we have done 200Km in and the only bits its had in all that are battery, a couple of upper arms, brake pads, shoes and Tyres, brushes for starter. It just goes and goes and goes.

In your price bracket Id suggest you are better off asking about individual cars.
It will come down to the miles travelled and condition of each vehicle.

Later model 95-96 Mazda 323 1.5 station wagon if you want one of the the most fuel efficient cars you'll ever drive but they aren't speed demons- expect 20 seconds for the 0-100. Otherwise go for a caldina or something
