Expect to pay drift tax if you can find one that isnt shagged. I think these are the same as R32 and even VL commondore.

Used an old RB20E Laurel manual box on an RB20DET cefiro I had years and years ago, was just a quickie one off fix but it took a hiding for 4 years before it started to feel a bit sad, not bad for whatever I paid for the box, which I am pretty positive was only about $40 odd

Similar yes, the same no. 25DET is the strongest of all 2wd RB gearboxes. R32 and VL run a mechanical speedo drive, R33 is electronic. plus the front half of the driveshaft is different. But in saying that, any RB box will be a direct fit onto the engine - they all run the same bolt pattern on the bellhousing.

I hear you there, from what I have heard the turbos just have better bearings and more ribbing on the box casing to stop flex.

between the rb20e, de, det, re25de and rb30e there isnt a whole lot of differances between the internals of the gearboxs. There is alot of differances between all of them and the rb25det gearboxs they share similar internals to the 300zx and 4wd gtr skyline gearboxs
