Yes - usually, but most cars these days don't have "fanbelts" as such, and with modern belts, chances are the belt is stuffed - not just loose - and if it's {over} tightened by somebody who doesn't know what they're doing, it can cause $$$ damage.If this seems a bit obscure, take it to a mechanic.

OK, should be easy, just need to check condition of belt, if OK just tighten. Local garage should be able to do it while you wait.
