Starting to get the old Commie ready for painting (base coat and clear) and have got surface rust in some of the stone chips. Is it better to sand them right out Or I heard you can acid them out, neutralize and fill. Thanks

Useually there not to far gone so sanding and a wire wheel on a drill if they are deepish or if real bad a quick blast with a hand held sand blaster works a treat. I would then prime areas then fill.Sand and reprime. If you dont do stonechips correctly they show up real bad.You have to sand more than you see because rust is useually present beyond just the chip.
Oh and use a block, fingers on stone chips is looking for trouble.

Thanks for that, didnt think about the wire brush on the drill. Have done stone chips before with knifing compound but not with rust in them.

You could use a stone (small shaped ones) in a drill too.
