My car's done a wee, need a sensor in the coolant.

Little bugger, I can't catch him at it. One week water level is great - Next week I'm stranded on side of the road with no coolant left. Don't get any warning or indication.

I've had new water pump, rad hoses, rad cap. It runs a pressurised reservour at 1 Bar. There are bleed screws on the radiator and also the heater hose where I could probably fit a sensor.

Where do I find a sensor!

Before you start replacing parts, get your local garage to do a pressure test and maybe a TeeKay head check as well.

You haven't mentioned what car it is, as mentioned above, get a pressure test done, also a head check. You may have a blown head gasket pushing all the water out of your radiator.

More like a cracked head which is only opening up when it gets hot enough. If it was loosing that much coolant externally you'd be noticing it on the garage floor or drive. This may be one of those problems where getting the engine really hot, driving straight away to a garage and getting the spark plugs whipped out and the cooling system pressure tested overnight may be the only way to pinpoint it. A peek down the plughole with an endoscope or else cranking it over the following day usually ejects a lungful of water out of the plughole. A piston crown which is suspiciously clean compared to the others is also another dead giveaway. Fitting a level sensor is not the cure lol.

You can get water level sensor at Repco I got one a year ago but havent yet fitted it up, cant rember the price I got it at mates rates one or two hundred $. Screws into the rad or you will need a adapter section spliced into the top rad hose.
I would be inclined to agree with the others saying fix the prob first tho, if there are no puddles under car then could be the head. check by. start the engine cold, remove rad cap, does the water bubble out of radwith the engine running! this could mean cracked head or head gasget stuffed.
