Hamilton to ChCH for a Honda CRV on Jeffs was $500.00 but that was pre quakes.

Its rotorua thats the problem. If you can get it to Taupo or Hamilon you will save lots or so i have found. If you have 3 days to spare might just work out cheeper to drive/fly but once again Rotorua for the fly leg is too expensive.

ceedoubleyou, Oct 14, 9:28pm
try railroads, back in 2004, did a ChCh to Akl, $450 for one car over night

arrithedog, Oct 15, 12:14am
Getting it to Taupo/Hamilton is not a problem. Flying back I'd go to Auckland then get the bus. Saves about 250 bucks on flying direct.

I've got 3 days to spare, but can't drive the car until the cert plate has been atached to it for the modifications. And I have to be back in time to pick up my mother from Auckland when she arrives from UK on the 25th October. So transporting looks like the only option. So if anybody on here is a car dealer or a trucker that can do me a good price ! would be much appreciated. Cheers.

You could try car delivery group used to be car haulaways or palmy tow services

I'll have a look for them too. Thank you

arrithedog, Oct 16, 6:24am

Fly up , drive it down .Fuel plus, air ticket plus Cook Strait Ferry you'll hose in way under freight cost. You'll do it in 2 to 3 days easy.
I did it from Wellington to Central Otago a couple of years back and It cost me an air ticket, Ferry ticket and fuel plus a motel one night in Picton.
I drove Picton to Central Otago in 9.5 hours ( with stops on the way) did the lot for less than $600

i was thinking about flying to CHCH to extract some pistons i want from an engine,( long story ) if your vehicle is reliable i could always drive it down 4u, i reside in te puke , which is a stones throw from rotaruaand i've never been to the mainland as yet !only cost is fuel, insurance, ferry, and ticket back home

arrithedog, Oct 16, 10:19pm
Thanks. Yes the vehicle is reliable, just had many thousands of dollars - and 2 years in the garage - rebuild. But if I'm paying for petrol, insurance, ferry and flight back, I should at least get the pleasure of doing the trip myself.!

the-lada-dude, Oct 17, 1:09pm
well you can't be in two places at once, nor can you have your cake and eat it too !this will be the cheapest and probably the safest way to get the vehicle from A > Bok then, you drive and i'll just tag along.

arrithedog, Oct 17, 10:58pm
Booked it with Captain Transporter. Gonna cost a bit more than driving it. But I reckon thats the safest way. If it's on the back of a truck, nobody's gonna run into it.
Thanks for all the suggesttions.
