215x45r17 front, 235x45r17 rear tyres on FWD

Recently purchased this car, need to do tyres shortly and was wondering what I should replace with! Benefits / Drawbacks! I know the 235's on the rear will be a tad taller! But the 215 on front is a bit skinny, and 235 looks fine. What would the factory size be. Nissan Maxima factory 17" rims

I would go 235/45 all round.

Cheers, I thought for ease of rotation etc this would be more suitable, and the back tyres won't be as worn as the fronts, so could get away with 2 new front 235/45's. Guess it is just for looks currently

Has it got a tyre pressure sticker in the door shut somewhere. That should tell you what the factory size should be.

I think it does, however; this is a 1995 A32 cefiro, with the new model maxima factory 17"

Then you will need to take into account the original wheel/tyre sizes so you can properly match up the new combo to get a diameter of within 5% of the originals.
ie; The new wheels/tyres, when measured against the old ones, should not be smaller or larger by a margin of 5%.

For example, one of the wheel/tyre combos used on the A32 was 205/65R15.
Difference against a 215/45R17 is 3.43%.so that's fine.
Against a 235/45R17 is 0.65%, fine again.
So if your factory size was 205/65R15, then I totally agree with phil.weston, go 235/45R17 all round.
