Advice on Auction please

spraggles, Nov 10, 2:27am
I have found a legacy for sale on trade me that I am interested in buying. It seems to be a little cheaper than most and am wondering about whether or not I should be suspicious. Can someone who knows more about these cars give me any opinion they might have. Auction number is: 422158718. Last thing I wanna do is buy a car that is about to crap out. I'm car illiterate, as is most likely obvious.

No way of telling if it is cheaper than most as it is just the starting bid and not the reserve. If you're serious about buying, get it checked out by aa or a garage

How is it cheaper than most! The reserve could be miles away.

neo_psy, Nov 10, 2:33am
Well, you don't know what their reserve is, so it might not be cheaper than anything else.

You are looking at the wrong vehicle, don't ever buy one of those twin turbo Legacies, they are disasters waiting to happen when they get up to those km's, on top of having to fuel and insure the damn thing. That slot in the bonnet is for putting your wallet into. Also how do you know its cheap when you don't know what the reserve is!

How do you know it's cheaper than most! The start price is not the selling price.

Submarine have been around for many years, they are Subaru specialists.

Cheers guys. Which legacies would you say are more economical!

franc123, Nov 10, 2:41am
If economy is of prime consideration don't look at Subaru 4x4's at all, they are always less economical than an equivalent 2wd car with a similar sized engine.Perhaps look at something like a Toyota Caldina instead.

Thanks mate. Yeah am looking for a tidy wagon. But the last thing I want to do is end up forking out ridiculous amounts on petrol

carlz05, Nov 10, 2:44am
Don't get a turbo subaru, they're fun, but boy do you pay in petrol. They suck the petrol and cost heaps extra to insure. If they break they're expensive to fix!

I almost choked. $10k!

May as well put $10k on black at the casino, the odds of walking away with money would be better.

Cheers for the advice mate. I really like the look of those wagons but not interested in paying so much for petrol

Subarus are great , fun cars to drive , but when they go wrong , they really do. That 10k reserve you will need in repairs bills
