i did do it properly!i legally did it.nothing on the form states you are legally required to prove the vehicle is yours and possession is nine tenths of the law so yes he still has nine tenths, and i have one, which ive used to my advantage

You KNOW FULL WELL IT HAD THE PLATES ON IT. Sheesh what if it does get a parking ticket-WELL- Refer signed form STATING plates missing.
After all how the hell else can it have a parking ticket written out to it's rego!
Reporting it stolen would have been smarter. After all it was *Security on monies owed to you*

would of been easier to put a workers lieu againest it
danchop,
Nov 10, 4:48pm
yeah heat of the moment thing i spose, but the parking ticket thing wont happen because the plate number and details of owner are not in thier system anymore.govt departments arent linked in most cases, the ltsa can track the vehicle but a council cant
mopar63,
Nov 10, 4:50pm
the really silly thing was deregistering it, you've taken any value it had out of it plus any tickets it receives will go to the last owner, namelyyou. if the flatmate says you can have it you have something worth scrap value instead of a van that you could have kept on the road and worth something
danchop,
Nov 10, 4:54pm
no its off the road legally now, tickets wont register to a non existent plate so the only way its going to come up is if hes stopped by police, and i dont care about the money,im being vindictive

Quotedanchop (89 )6:54 pm, Sat 10 Nov #31 Does the word *vindictive*
Imply that plod could quite possibly charge you incourt for Operating an unregistered vehicle
danchop,
Nov 10, 4:58pm
i have no possession of the vehicle!so i would not be driving it
skin1235,
Nov 10, 4:59pm
how does the absent one suffer you are the registered owner now - you changed it into your name
if it gets pulled up and they check the rego guess where they going to send the infringement notice - and it won't be to a previous owner - if the parking wardens get wind of it you can now expect tickets by the busload, and him being none the wiser will continue to use it while the pile of tickets in your mailbox grows
danchop,
Nov 10, 5:01pm
back to school for you or read and understand a thread, there is no rego,it is gone, the plates are just a number now, there is no registered owner to that plate number anymore, comphrehend! ltsa can track the previous history of that plate number but the police would proberbly be the only ones to be able to get that info, not councils, parking wardens etc
snoopy221,

Not if but WHEN plod pulls it The driverhasNo Reasonable Cause to suspect it is deregistered. As wether *Causing an unlicenced vehicle to be operated* Is in the wording of the act.
snoopy221,

I take you did some research and are aware that 20 demerit points can apply to each 150 dollar ticket! Incedentaly in this case Beyond Any Doubt it is the *Registered Owner* who has caused this offence to happenn

what are the consequences of my hair brained act!

why did you come on this MB asking for advice for a situation you've convinced yourself is not going to be a problem! I think you have got yourself into a position that is going to be very difficult to get out of. Obviously all things will come to light next time he tries to renew the vans license!
sw20,
Nov 10, 5:12pm
So you didn't get any refund because you had no plates to hand in!
What was the point of this exercise in futility for!
danchop,
Nov 10, 5:13pm
i dont get you on this!if a cop pulls him up,he will be driving an illegal vehicle on the road, and he wont be recorded as the last previous owner, they wont listen to his rants and raves about it being his,it will get very messy
danchop,
Nov 10, 5:15pm
just to piss him off really,i can handle paying money just to get vengeance when someone is an arsewipe

im hoping this is what happens, the rego expires next month (or to him it does)

I don't think it will have simply "disappeared" off the system just because YOU went in and deregistered it.There will be a history attached to the plate number. And that history will track back to the last registered owner.YOU.So therefore YOU become liable for any fines, and YOU will then need to convince the authorities why YOU shouldn't have to pay.If YOU choose to give tell them the circumstances how the car came into your ownership (like you've just done to us) YOU may find yourself in a wee bit of poo. Note the emphasis on YOU.Nobody elses problem now but yours.I can see this turning into a big can of worms for YOU.
noswalg,
Nov 10, 5:19pm
why won't they listen to his rants! all he needs is a couple of affidavits from people that know the van belongs to him and the police may well turn up on your doorstep seeing as you were the last registered owner. That is the function of the police in this country, to solve crime. You committed a crime when you fraudulently changed the van into your name!
skin1235,
Nov 10, 5:24pm
but not for him - you are the last owner, when you deregisterd it there was advice about what would happen if the vehicle was found on the road again - if you bother to read that advice it does not mention driver, it does mention owner though your contention that as it is derego'd there is no owner is simple showing your naivety, while it exists you are the last rego'd owner
danchop,
Nov 10, 5:24pm
i changed the owenership into my name LEGALLY,if the system is slack its not my fault is it!the seller doesnt have to come along to the ltsa and say this guy just brought my car does he!he owes me money and i took his ownership of something in return and did what i wanted to with it

this has to be pondered,thanks
