Get every single bit of information you can about this clown, no matter how insignificant it might seem.
Once the word "family" is used, then all bets are off, period.

I don't thing there should be any concern about the outcome of the tribunal here, I would be very concerned about the tribunal system if it went his way. What I would be worried about is what will happen when he receives a ruling against him. Will he just accept it and slink away! Somehow I don't think so. And nutbars like this are completely unpredicatable.

This has gone on too long. At this point I would send him one last e-mail stating that you are concerned of his mental state so have contacted the Police. Say you will no longer discuss this issue outside court and look forward to seeing him in court to end this stupidity once and for all. Say you will be happy to abide by the courts decision. And stick to it. He will try to continue it but just keep records and do not reply.
Edit. Keep this e mail short and to the point, don't rant on like he does.

I wouldn't, this is exactly what he wants and why he's using scare tactics. I believe he knows he hasn't a leg to stand on in court.

I think this is a bad idea.
For one you don't want to pledge to abide by the courts decision, if you get a lemon of an adjudicator as is a likely possibility you may well have to appeal it.
Likewise there is no need to make reference to what you think their mental state is, that is something that may well blow up in your face.
If you make any further direct communication say as little as possible. You don't want to inadvertently give the other side ammunition to use against you.

Since you have such fantastic Trademe feedback, I would bring evidence of this along to the hearing, as it shows what kind of trader you are, especially since he is trying to discredit you. 214 happy customers and no negatives, shows a judge you are not the kind of person he is trying to make you out to be.

I think its mental health issues and that's what hes known for by the police. He probably believes what hes saying. He was at some stage bright to know words the rest of us have to look up. Somethingshappened to him beyond what any of us know. The good thing is he lives in a different island. I don't think your dealing with someone rational and if he does snap he might blame it on you and the car. You just hope the disputes referee puts things in perspective.

Bit dumb when someone with such a mouthful uses a phrase like "cheap-jack" to describe the paintwork. That's harder to decipher than a teenagers txt. Even my old-man would've choked on that lot.
Where does he originate from!
It looks like he lives in Dunedin, but he's just like a generic morph of a plonker in Auckland that attacked my daughter a few years ago in the same manner.
I wasn't allowed to know his name - for one good reason.
Just let him keep spamming you, and load them up.

May be worth checking tenancy disputes which are on line, as he appears to love conflicts. With the bovine stercus he spouts he would be a prime candidate to appears here if he is a landlord or tenant

Where on earth does one learn to compose and write like that! I wonder if there is software that does it for you!

Him or one of his banjo-strumming kinfolk are lawyers of some ilk (cousin , son or father).
Too many legal clauses in his comms to be a Joe Average.

Even lawyers are not stupid enough to spout on like that. Well, not the smart ones anyway.

I don't think it's " lawyer talk " I think he eats dictionaries as a past time.

It's called intimidatory tactics.(And yes I did have to check the spelling). If ya can't stump 'em with science, baffle 'em with bullshit.Good on ya OP for sticking to ya guns. While it's a bit of entertainment for most of us here it's obviously very stressful for you.Don't be tempted to retaliate with emails or name and shame. You need a cool calm head for your career and I trust you'll demonstrate the same attributes to get through this small glitch in your life. There's heaps of good advice in the previous posts and all I can offer is good luck for the disputes tribunal.BTW.the guys a knob head and I'd love to be a fly on the wall when he gets shot down.
