Hard to see but it looks kinda walnutty - or exotic.

Is it real wood or a plastic job!

gammelvind, Nov 29, 12:48am
My guess is burl walnut.

It's real mate, it's a coffee table i picked up for stuff all.

Looks like a bur walnut finish

No idea. But some of that old stuff is worth considerable amounts of $$$

No way you can walk into a new furniture shop these days, and order something like that kind of knotted finish.

Forgive my ignorance, What is book matched!

Cheers guys.

Yeah, i quite like the look of it. The coffee table is 1200 long, 500 wide and 40 thick. It has inlays on sides (just make it out in pic') but it's sitting on a crappy steel tube thing which doesn't suit it.

Plan is, take stand/base off, recess a copper bowl in it, install some antique copper taps and install on an old tredle Singer sewing machine frame nad stick it on TM with a few zeros added to purchase price.

Oh, forgot to add, sealed with a suitable sealer then a few dozen coats of 2 pack clear wet sanded between every couple of coats.

I'd think it might be worth more as a coffee table myself.Just get a nice set of wooden legs turned up for it.

Touche that man. I was too tired to bother with googling last night.

On a side note. I find all these fake Burr wallnut panels in modern cars gross.
