Im after some information on how to test "on plug coil packs" I have a BA XR6 Falcon and want to test all the coil packs , can someone tell me what the OHMS should be on the primery and secondary sides of these coil packs with a muilt-tester.
Quite common fault, usually they blow due to spark plugs being worn (electrode gap to big causing extra load on coils), also check for tracking down the side of the plugs.
You CAN test the resistances - however I've found coils that still have the same resistances as all the others and within spec and still be faulty. Ford have a handy tool on their Diagnostic software called power balance which allows you to see what is happening in each cylinder. All we do is look on that and see which cylinder is misfiring, swap coil to another cylinder and retest - if fault moves to that cylinder swapped to its a faulty coil.
