Replacing car speakers

Hi there,

I own a 2001 Legacy and it comes factory with a 1-way speaker and tweeter combination in the front doors. One of the speakers has blown (no big deal) and I am looking at replacing the front speakers with aftermarket units. The problem/question I have, is that all/most speakers sold on the market are at least 2-way coaxial units.

So. If I replace the 1-way factory speakers with aftermarket 2-way speakers (which have a tweeter incorporated), will this be a problem having 2 sets of tweeters!I am assuming that I can just hook up the 2-way speakers and they'll work, I'm just curious/worried about the sound with 2 tweeters.

Am I thinking along the right line!I don't really have much knowledge with car audio so any help would be appreciated.

Unhook the factory tweeters is the easiest solution.

Buy components, fit the new tweeters in the factory location!

Yes,replace with new split speaker system. They are almost the same price these days (depends on make/version).

I am doing the same in my car (again).
