Best car you have owned vs the worst and why?

rob_rooster, Jan 20, 10:26am
As per title, curious to see what people have to say.
For me the best was my E46 M3, just a good all round car.
The worst was an Opel Calibra, total unreliable shitebox!

vtecintegra, Jan 20, 11:06am
While everything I've owned had its bad points I wouldn't say I've ever had a 'bad' car.

andy61, Jan 20, 4:12pm
The worst- Mitsi Galant-it was a big time oil burner with only 38000kms on it(car was only 3 years old when I got it),one of the best-Honda Accord -still went like a new car when I sold it 270000kms,totally reliable, never used oil, never required any repairs other than oil changes, plugs, tyres etc.

The best '62 E Type Jaguar - always a pleasure to drive

The worst - Ford Telstar TX5 Ghia - about 6 years old when we had it, and anything that could possibly break or malfunction did.

reggienz, Jan 20, 7:37pm
My best would be either a 1992 Maxima, or my present 2002 2.2 Camry, and worst would be 1989 Holden Camira. Anything that could go wrong ,did.

best was a '73 MazdaRX3 coupe, 'coz it helped with gettin' hot chicks! (this was back in the '70's too btw) Worst was a '93 Range Rover Vogue, only car to ever 'blow up' on me, i.e. melt a piston during normal driving. Had a few rotaries during the '70's & '80's and neary a problem wi' 'em.

Best car 2002 gtb legacy manual one owner, handles great with lots of power, owned for 4 years and never given any trouble, still drive daily. Worst car 1996 gtb legacy auto to many owners, this one had been boy raced and it cost alot to keep running.

tgray, Jan 20, 8:50pm
Best! 2012 Camaro convertible
Worst 1980 V12 Jag
Why! you already know.

chook90, Jan 20, 9:23pm
Best, GTR XU1 Torana. More driving enjoyment in that thing than any other car I ever owned. Best of all it was in the mid to late 80s where country roads were not frequented by people trying to issue tickets.;

Worst, 1995 Radisich Telstar. Not a single good thing to say about the POS. Oil burning from day one, power curve that could best be described as boring, shocking ride quality. I could go on but even thinking about it again makes me dry reach.

Best - 89 Fiat Uno Turbo. Bought it for 3.5k from the original owner, and it was a hoot. Was in near mint condition and embarrassed many modern cars.I have MAJOR sellers regret over that one:(

Worst - 03 Evo 8. Nice car to drive, but attracted negative attention like nothing else. Was broken into 2 weeks after I got it, then cost $6k to fix issues after 1 year of ownership, and the week I got that done some pillock keyed the bonnet. Good riddance.

Best (but not my favourite) is my wife's 1999 Honda Orthia S.Had it for around 4 years now and never had a single problem with it.Drives nicely, looks good, uses very little fuel, has heaps of space.

Worst was a 1996 RAV4.Nothing technically wrong with it but they are uncomfortable and noisey.

200sx, Jan 21, 4:37am
Best - 2000 E55 AMG. Speaks for itself.
Worst - 98 Escort 1.8 wagon. Got it as a hack for the dogs, but such a dull, boring vehicle. But served its purpose as basic A to B transport, so can't complain really.

Worst: Late 1980's VW Rabbit (Golf) cabriolet convertible. A real "Harbour Bridge Paintjob" car- you started fixing stuff at one end, by the time you'd got through all the busted stuff at the other end, the front where you'd started was knackered again and needed the same work as before. Ugh. PickAPart was too good for it.

Best: 1998 Toyota Aristo V300 Vertex Twin-Turbo Navi-Edition, in black with black leather. So far ahead of it's time (my first one was a '97, the year they came out) and like driving a gentleman's club with handling, so many toys and comfort gadgets, yet excellent performance and ride. Should NEVER have sold it.

Worst car 2005 Peugeot 307 Wagon. Had it as a rental around Europe, the car was brand new and in 6 weeks when I returned it the list of faults was enormous.
Best Car is my 1927 Austin 7 Fabric body. Just a real classic car going everywhere at 25 mph.

outbidyou2, Jan 21, 7:18am
worst Isuzu Mu, you'd think at 80K this thing would at least give some trouble free motoring - No. D&L, not that many people agrre with them say "avoid like the plague" They are'nt wrong

best, late model hiace, lots of room and still under warranty, cant go too wrong with that.

brokebloke1, Jan 21, 7:43am
worst car ---- 1972 mini biggest piece of crap, hated it!
best car ---- I have two cant really decide with I enjoy the most ,
1965 XP falcon coupe and 2002 XR6 tickford Falcon both are great cars.

franc123, Jan 21, 8:12am
Worst, 1982 Accord, was an economical smooth and refined drive but the speed the thing rusted was scandalous, the engine would still be bouncing down the road after the body had completely dissolved
Best, any of my Falcons, XF sedan and ute, EF wagon and EF Fairmont sedan, large, comfortable, easy to fix and get spares, tow anything, pass anything, good economy forsize.

trogedon, Jan 21, 8:38am
Worst - slime green Vauxhall Viva HC. It had been reliable for the previous owners but it wasn't for us. I did a lot of work on it and was still shite.

bowla3, Jan 21, 8:41am
I've been around a far while.
Worst, Toss up between, 1935 Ford V8 and 1975 504 Peugot.
Had a few Chryslers, 1939, 1963 & 1971, all good.
Best, Another toss up. 1987 Holden Calais 3 litre and present, 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe. 2.7 litre

amberjandal, Jan 21, 9:34am
Worst - Hillman Hunter Station Wagon

Best - 2005 F250 Double Cab 7.2 Diesel - a real ute.

vtecnet, Jan 21, 9:36am
I agree about the Honda Accord, my parents purchased one brand new in 1982, by 1986 the car leaked and had to have the carpet removed, by 1988 it was at the scrap yard due to rust problems, (car lived near the beach in Greymouth)

ralphdog1, Jan 21, 9:40am
2nd that, my wife's one was exactly the same although it was a 1979. Those bloody roof seams

Best, MX5 or S2k, both fun but in very different ways.

lugee, Jan 21, 9:49am
Yep, some 80's era Honda models had some rust issues. It was even worse in regions that salted the roads in winter.
