Pre purchase inspection for Toyota

I'm looking at buying a second hand Toyota (probably a Camry or a Corolla), and I'd like to get a pre purchase inspection. Does anyone know of any specialist Toyota garages in Auckland which do inspections! And are they mobile inspections, or do you bring the car to them!

In the past I've had AA inspections for cars I've owned and they were OK, but I'd like to get an inspection from a garage which specialises in Toyotas this time.

If you have a mechanic or garage you have used consistently for many years they are the best person to take it to, otherwise a third party who has nothing to gain from pointing out or passing over its faults.

There is nothing very specialised about a Camry or Corolla, any mechanic that has been around a while should have seen enough of them to be able to inspect one, so as lazzo says just pick a good general mechanic.

Most importantly though, try and avoid the AA and VTNZ for inspections, they charge an absurd amount of money and concentrate on making the process "look good" yet are far from ideal in terms of the likelyhood of spotting a major fault. They will however do a supurb job of finding minor issues (minor panel repairs etc) and pretending that they are gravely serious.

Also, be aware that with Camry's and Corolla's the key drawback is actually there for everyone to see, that is poor value for money and often bellow average fuel economy (depending on age, model etc). They rarely work out to have a very low total cost of ownership over time, even if they are slightly less prone to failure.
