Best return on scrapping a car

A friend has blown up his old 86 celica. He cooked it, had the cooling system replaced but it only lasted a few more days then it's blown the head gasket.

He cannot afford to fix it.

Which way of disposing of it will net him the greatest return! .

Still have WOF and Rego! If so, could be worth selling complete as is on Trademe.

If De-registered, best way is to sell as many parts as possible off it, then scrap whatevers left.

vehicle still has wof and reg'. has been quoted $2000 for engine rebuild.

2nd hand engine will be (far) cheaper than 2 grand

if its still legal, it will keep him in going transport

Hmmm ya didnt read the bit where it says he cant afford to fix it did ya

Guess not. Better get used to the bus if a $500 engine is out of reach.

if only the headgasket is gone be ok for somone to fix the headgasket unless its got 300 tausend or more ks already on the engine then it be probably engine swap

For 500 bux maybe he cannot afford not to fix it. Time to have a good think about the predicament huh !

Post number 2 has the correct answer.

Its an 1986 celica its not worth spending $500 on to buy an engine then he or she might not be able to fit the engine then its another $5 to 600 to fit now you've spent more than its worth. Now if you thinkthats a great investment have I got a deal for you
