If a CAT is cut out car is it a wof fail?

trogedon, Aug 1, 8:47am
Is it? What year from?

franc123, Aug 1, 8:57am
2010 onwards. Plannin on doing a bit of pollution trog?

Reason for rejection:

2. A vehicle (other than group L vehicle or a class MA or MC motorsport vehicle with a valid motorsport authority card) that was first registered in New Zealand on or after 1 May 2010 and manufactured from 1 January 1990 has a catalytic converter removed where there is evidence that one was originally fitted, and there is no written evidence issued by an entry certifier that the vehicle passed a prescribed metered emissions test in this condition (Note 5) (Note 6) (Figure 11-2-1).

Of course not. It thought I'd have one fitted for when I fart riding my bicycle.

trogedon, Aug 1, 9:38am
Thanks for the info. "first registered in New Zealand on or after 1 May 2010 and manufactured from 1 January 1990 ". That's registered on or after 1 May 2010 + vehicles manufactured from 1 January 1990 so a 2002 registered in 2002 that has one should still have it fitted.

bigfatmat1, Aug 1, 9:41am
Still not fixed the problem?

franc123, Aug 1, 9:41am
Yes but when was it first registered here? If it was NZ new in 2002 it doesn't need it.

trogedon, Aug 1, 10:28am
Its pretty good but not perfect. I asked the specialist about the oil/filter change (and long drive) suggested here but he didn't think it would make a difference. He's happy to put it on his scanner before the problem shows up and after to see what difference there is. There are good reasons for keeping the cat and good for getting rid of it.

i do get a bit irretated when you keep talking about your expert?
a expert is somone who finds and fixes problems.
did your expert ever look at your fuel trims? because that is what experts actuarly do. on any car with a cat you have fuel trims it trimms the fuel for lighting up the cat converter. so i dont know if its just you whom thinks he is a expert or something.

kazbanz, Aug 3, 5:19am
Yet the problem remains.

bigfatmat1, Aug 3, 5:20am
Never followed other thread. Has the spark plugs been changed these usually give inefficiency codes. Removing cat could cause more faults. Also if you want to go down that path there is heaps of cars with cats removed. that pass warrants especially flash euros

bigfatmat1 i am not sure what year it is its some puke geot what year i dont know he never said he has multiple threads all with not enough information.
but if it has a cat then you look at fueltrims and if its real new you look if mode 6 monitors have completed or not. well that is what i would do even on some french crap.
