I had a quote from another mechanic who said they'll order the gasket first, my car being Crv 1996, and it would take an hour or 2. Another shop said they don't have to order as the gasket is standard for all and I'll have to leave my car so the sealant they'll use will dry overnight, so which one is right?
My oil have been leaking since 5 years ago. I'm just worries that the gasket won't be replaced but be reused and just sealed with a sealant to save on cost?
Also, does it take overnight to have it fixed?
cheers

So if you don't trust mechanic #2 don't use him. Simple answer.

could be as simple as that, except there is a $150 difference between the 2.

B20B engine rocker cover gasket kit with plug seals and bolt washers normally go for around $40 .

Does it need overnight to let the sealant dry?

NO, not if correct sealant is used .They should only be using a very small drop of sealant in the corners of cam arches at the most .

A good garage will show you the old part once a new one is installed------At least the one I use does

I could ask them to show me, but i wouldn't know if that really came from my car. Should I just ask for a warranty instead, say 1 year or 2, if it leaks then it should be free of charge whatever?

do you want the leak fixed ? Or do you want to spend money?

Maybe you need to find a mechanic you actually trust. Most of them are honest. Ask your friends who they recommend.

How many '96 CRV's would you think they'd do in a day. Do it yourself, seem's your the only one you trust.

you do think that most gaskets are the same type, don't you?

Glad I made you laugh. Some people can be easily amused. :)

Maxi-What are you hoping to gain? Im guessing no more rocker cover leakage. If the repair is to use a good quality slow drying sealant to do the job what does it matter to you? -as long as the leak stops of course. -Incidently this is on the basis you have a 20 year old vehicle so unlikely the rocker cover will be opened again in its lifespan.
