OK, so its not motoring but I thought i might show a couple of photos of what I have been building lately for a customer because it is so different.
The cantilevered Aussie hardwood table is 3.5mt long x 1.2mt wide. The hardwood top weighs between 500 and 600kg. The rock weighs 3.6 tonne.
Just finished it today.

We built the whole house and have been returning to build the extras like the pool, the decks and boardwalks and now the table.
Cheers Stevo

Impressive, well done!

Nice, how did you cut the rock? musta been fun.

stevo2, Mar 4, 2:27am
I cut the rock with a 125mm angle grinder and a masonary drill. Then a cold chisel

saxman99, Mar 4, 2:28am
I like that, nice work.

Interesting, the rock didn't crumble etc then, time consuming I bet. Very different. Who's idea? or was it got from somewhere else, not that that matters. I take it there is no support under the end? can't see any.

stevo2, Mar 4, 2:43am
The customer came up with the idea and it was up to me to make it happen.
The top is rebated about 25mm into the rock.
There are 3 schedule 80 (approx 115x10mm wall thickness) pipes core drilled and epoxyed 500mm into the rock at a 45 degree angle. the pipes are cut and welded to form a 45 degree elbow that protrudes 1.6mt from the rock.
The top is checked over these pipes and cantilevered so there is no end support.
The rock has 15/ d12 rods chemsetted into it and they sit in a footing below deck level, 3mt x 2mt x300mm thick.
The rock has been rebated at deck height and the 150x45 NZ Redwood decking runs 25mm underneath so it looks as if it is sitting on the deck

Excellent, always good to see what others do outside cars etc.

imho stevo, you are an artist, that is awesome. Sounds like it is built to last the distance too. Thanks for sharing.

Hah, I remember that place. I lifted a "seat" rock into place next to the pool around a year ago. Stunning house!

urbanrefugee54, Mar 5, 2:09am
oooh like

stevo2, Mar 5, 2:20am
Here you go Henderson_guy I thought you may like to see a couple of photos of the pool now its finished, and I remember you lifting the rock for us. It was too heavy for our 14 tonne digger.

Wow, it's certainly impressive! There must be a hell of a lot of hours gone into that pool alone, never mind the rest of the house! Cheers Stevo
