Alternative driveshaft repair

mrfxit, Jul 24, 8:29am
Having problems with the 95 Nissan van 5sp gearbox tailshaft leaking
Front driveshaft yoke has been replaced with a comparable size & good condition Skyline yoke & the tail shaft seal replaced.
Driveshaft has also had the rear bearing cross replaced & shaft pro balanced.

Leaked at a modest & slightly alarming rate so the whole rear housing was replaced with a new bearing sleeve & OEM Nissan seal
Still leaking at a modest but not alarming rate.

Gearbox breather hose was checked with a compressor 2nd time & is clear.

Any ideas?

Leaking out the plug in the yoke?

Where exactly the oil is coming out is the next thing to determine I'd have thought ie if its through the yoke or past the seal.

Appears to be leaking past the rear seal.
Shouldn't be possible with a new rear bush & OEM seal.
It's not leaking from the centre cap on the yoke & not from further up the housing (Also replaced the rear housing)
Doesn't appear to be leaking anywhere else on the box?
Is it possible that the replacement yoke is simply too small to allow the seal to do it's job properly
Eg: the Skyline yoke is a fraction smaller then the OEM van yoke?
Would have thought the driveshaft pro guy would have known that, if that was the case.

Why was it replaced in first place and where is the original

mrfxit, Jul 24, 9:09pm
Gearbox needed an extensive rebuild from massive neglect by the previous owner /s.
Over half the box internals were replaced including the mainshaft.
Apparently it's common for these to send the shrapnel back through the tail shaft & chew out the yoke & housing bearing hence the replacement yoke etc.
