Anyone know what is the most common fault to be causing this ?

We have had it for many years but it is getting worse.

How much is a lot? I had an AU ute, would get around 10 km a litre open road, around 7-8 around town.

Our AU does similar, about 11km/litre. (Our Vitara does about 14. )

Any ones guess . Always keep a clean air filter for starters,Throttle body clean out .
A semi seized brake caliper s or seized slides .can drag brakes a little and ya wouldn't know it.some can go unoticed for years before someone points it out!
Also some Falcon bolts that hold the brake booster to the firewall can come slightly loose, causing the brakes to be permanently on a little. This causes high fuel use too. Get it checked by Ford. They have the right equipment to check it properly.

Right foot getting heavier?

Check your thermostat. On some cars if it is stuck open the car will run rich longer as the ecu doesnt lean out until up to correct temp.
