I venture to ask this, how many cars do you actually see where there are more than the driver and maybe a front seat passenger in them outside of holiday times eh?
If they weren't up to scratch they wouldn't get the OK to be on our roads !
Puddle Jumpers you describe more than likely would only have a occasional passenger to use the centre seat belt, most are city commuters where only one or two people travel in them, hardly ever do you see them full of folks?
Flimsy argument right there.

Hmm. The boss cop in Alexandra a few years back used to regularly go through the car parks at shopping centres and dishing out tickets for no WOF and regos.

thejazzpianoma, Oct 6, 9:26am
This was exactly my point. If you have a read of what I wrote again I said "lost to malls" but I should have said "lost to malls from mainstreet business's" to be more clear.

There are a few on here that would likely LOVE that job.

klrider, Oct 6, 7:02pm
I still prefer the story about the cop who did a u turn in front of you 25 years ago. c'mon. tell us again. please, its riveting.

golfdiver, Oct 6, 8:01pm
Wouldn’t you love any job?

There is someone looking at the Toyota on the display stand.

They dont write tickets & put them on cars anymore , you recieve notice in the mail of the fine & either pay or defend within 28 days . There is No warnings or periods of grace anymore , as i said primarily revenue gathering . & police/parking wardens can & do issue infringements anywhere public has access

"They dont write tickets & put them on cars anymore , you recieve notice in the mail of the fine & either pay or defend within 28 days "
Is that a 100% blanket rule, no one gets diversion anymore for Reg/WoF infringements?

ree6, Oct 7, 4:50am
This'll be interesting.
I know the answer.

berg, Oct 7, 5:09am
I'm keen to hear this answer as well

thejazzpianoma, Oct 7, 6:53am
Sheesh, why can't you lot just discuss the topic like adults?

bumfacingdown, Oct 7, 7:02am
Does that mean why can't we all just agree with you?
Someone made a statement, it has been questioned as to how valid the claim was, part of discussing a topic.

Care to have a crack at the question

Agenda gets in the way.

From Stuff, note last paragraph :oP

The Government is about to get tough with the owners of unlicensed cars, introducing new laws that could have people forced off the road.

Fines on vehicle infringements are to be reduced, but demerit points will be added in an effort to discourage offending. The fine for driving an unlicensed vehicle will halve from $200 to $100, but will earn 15 demerit points. Driving while a vehicle's licence is on hold, or a vehicle has no plates, will drop $50 to $150, but incur 20 demerit points.

Motorists will lose their driver's licences for three months if they rack up 100 demerit points within two years. The changes, to be introduced on May 1, apply only to tickets issued by police.

There will be no change to fines issued by parking wardens.

Police will continue to give a person ticketed for the first time over an unlicensed car a two-week grace period to license their vehicle before any penalties apply.

Oh the irony. -
.

gunhand, Oct 7, 8:54pm
Well that just sounds like revenue gathering to me. um, eeer, hang on, reducing fines?
Mind you, for conspiracy theorists, it could just mean they will stop twice as many unlicensed and WOFed cars to make up the difference. But yet again, if all vehicles were licensed etc as they should there would be no revenue gathering for this. But. they would then have a forever zero speed tolerance and gather their stash that way. But, the masses would catch on and reduce speed to 100 or 99 so no more gathering there either.
Of course they could then target non stoppers at stop signs.
Arrgh, my head is hurting, off to water blast house.

headcat, Oct 7, 9:16pm
Not even with his.

ema1, Oct 7, 9:43pm
Heck no.

bumfacingdown, Oct 7, 9:43pm
I wonder why no one answered that, oh, hang on they did but totally destroyed the claim

esky-tastic, Oct 7, 10:50pm
No, surely this cannot be right?
Wasn't it thejazz that said it was all about revenue gatherings?
So how are the cops going to get any revenue if they let people get their Rego done and not have to pay for the ticket?

elect70, Oct 8, 1:46am
The notice i got for no rego /wof said nothing about a2 week period of grace & the cop just said I would recieve fine & demerit points , plus he took the plates & said to come & get them once car was reg & WOf , asked how t F*&^% can i get it WOF without plates - t"tthats your problem " So Where was this period grace ? In the end i sold the car as is

esky-tastic, Oct 8, 2:24am
Were you stopped by a cop?
And had your Rego been out for over a year?
If so the plates were dead.
There's something not straightforward about your story.

elect70, Oct 8, 2:27am
^^ yep another thing if you lose license for demerit points they also seize the license itself & you have to reapply for it after the 3 months are up . & still cant drive until recive it . Jyust more draconian things theve dreamt up .
