Scrappie value 97 Primera - damaged

extrayda, Jul 27, 6:38pm
Hi,
Son has a 97 Primera sedan, 270,000 ks, auto.
Got run into a tree a few months back, so the front is bent in (still drives fine, no damage to running gear),
Then stopped on the motorway and the mechanic says $800 ish to fix (alternator & starter motor also needs doing - not sure how starter motor is related, but anyway).
So pretty average condition, damaged front (bonnet / grill and IIRC one light), alternator and starter motor need doing. Has WOF but probably for not much longer, and rego.

Any guesses on what a scrappie will offer? $2,000 ?
(joking - $150 ? more ? ).
Just after a rough idea.

Park it outside the local wreckers at 1am, take the plates off and scarper.

Getting a wrecker who would be interested in it at any price will be the first challenge. It would be a different story if it was factory manual, may as well dollar reserve it.

too old for most scrappies--Id say $200 Pick a part special

This, still a few nutters around that might pay silly money for the last of the great Nissans. Plus it's always great entertainment.

Definitely, don't bother fixing it, they were wonderful cars but at more than 20 years old and those km's it's well past its use by date. Chances are if you fix those things next month it will be something else.

Just don't make the mistake of buying another small Nissan. The good Primera's are too old and the newer Renault/Nissans are utter rubbish, as in only as good as a no name Chinese car.

gut it and enter it in a Demo Derby .
