Dont you guys know all cars are great when they are going but shitboxes when they break down.

Somehow I don't think you do.

Actually the proper warranty companies in other countries where there is actual competition charge based on the actual reliability of the vehicle. Hence the reliabilityindex.com which is based on the data the largest of such companies in Europe uses.
The few companies that offer warranty's in NZ are pretty much-glorified scams. That aside, you are off topic.

What exactly are you looking for snoopy? The rebuilder also gave a figure of about 120K as average life span without being prompted. He of all people should know given he records the km data on exchange units etc.

You think what you like. as usual, but I know better !

Ahh right. Well I was surprised to find out that there is not just one or two issues. It seems to be more that the transmission is built from the ground up to be limited life. Issues range from surface and bearing type mechanical issues through to the internally mounted electrics. Rather than do my best to explain the range of what I have seen (which is difficult without diagrams etc) when I have finished up in the shed I will see if I can find a great article I read about them a while ago for you. It had all the diagrams and explanations nicely laid out. It's not straight forward like the Aisin 5 speed or early dry clutch DSG where you saw the same couple of issues over and over though.

Funny how Aisin & Jatco get the negative from you when DSG crap doesn't . more like veiled B/S to cover up their faults, not to mention all the other woes VAG crap has that also gets the cover up treatment by you.

the internally mounted electrics
Oh Do Behave
Nissan has had that issue for bloody YEARS way before the Renault Nissan aliance Hell the amount or skyline and nissan diesel transmissions that the temperature controller inside the trans that goosed as it couldn't handle being in the hot trans fluid and had to simply be bypassed with a resistor or replaced. [resistor was so simple and five min jobbie compared to repacement] Which caused them to drop top gear/overdrive -as they were supposed to not engage it cold.
Is this were we add the old HQ and the GM Tri matic which had the plastic accumulator valve which AGAIN could not handle trans fluid temp and failed? / [Causing hell thump shift]
And ema probably like me has done fkn more of those plastic valves than ya've had hot moisties. LOL
It's my betting snoops that . it will get neatly side stepped . AGAIN, those questions and other questions requesting explanation or proof have been asked many times previously . but often no explanation is forth coming pretty much that I have seen. Jazz often asks for proof etc of folks on here, but dismisses what he hears as it doesn't suit his agenda . but in return he rarely gives any when asked. often because it's fake or worse . LIES. agenda based propaganda !

Answer curlcrown is as usual . Clear as Mud or no answer at all !

Seen the insides a good number of Trimatics . Powerglides, Turbo Hydramatics etc in my time snoops, but not as many as what seem to require major stuff in more modern stuff , long time ago now though I have to admit. Pre electronic controlled stuff back them matey. Thing with a lot of Euro stuff they chop and change designs and "upgrade" etc etc just to confuse the issue . no one with a right mind can be bothered with all the vehicle off the road for all the silly stuff Euro's and odd other makes to a lessor extent have these days, Euro's are a hopeless case when big distances away from service centres . Japanese makes are far better in that domain, always have been. it's called reliability and it counts for big praise in my book.

Yeah rkn it would be yonks ago for you -LOL
Point is it is a specific manufacturers STOOOPID idea of putting a part in an environment where it WILL fail. And the same claim has been made by jazzz
