Exactly. Overhead electrical supply and the same gauge. Where is the problem? Are the diesel's really that much taller?
PS: A quick Google has the electric's taller! 3.9 vs 3.7.

Of course. Years ago they electrified the main trunk line to Taumaranui. They still run Diesels on that same line.

LOL. Logic, along with forward planning, the law of unintended consequences - not to mention overall productivity, cost benefit analyses, etc. don't seem to be the attributes of this lot - and the previous lot weren't much better.
