Honda Vtec - 1600cc

If cambelt breaks on one of these engines, is there any Valve Clearance or will it be terminal!Thanks.

i have snapped a b18c type R at 8k and valves were fine that was top of 3rd gear

You got somewhat lucky there, others have done the same thing with different results

ya got a slim chance that you haven't. how did it snap! Age! Or pushing it too hard! If the latter go and get an aftermarket racing belt. if you have some spare cash now would be the time to do your top half up a bit. type r valves springs cams etc. You will notice a difference.

i built up a ef7 with 98 spec engine crane stage 2 cams,hondata s300 ecu etc etc redline was 10,300 .so i beleive its 50/50 have also had two h22a engines in past on breakdowns where they did no damage

just chuck a new belt on it and wind over by hand with no sparkplugs in.

Am kinda waiting for the cambelt to snap on my EF7 with ZC engine, had a turbo added 5 years ago, stock internals and 2x stock power at 10psi boost. damn thing won't die. but the cambelts at least 5 years old now. I need an excuse to do a B Series Swap
