Repo a truck

nzroadtransport, Oct 2, 7:06am
how do i go about it.
how do i find out who owns it.

owene, Oct 2, 7:28am
Go to the local Post Office and pay the few dollas and do a search, But that will only tell you who it's registered to, not who has posession of it.

nzroadtransport, Oct 2, 7:30am
was told you cant go to postshop and do that still.

nzroadtransport, Oct 2, 7:32am

Of course you can get the details from the PO - that has not yet been stopped. Of course you have to provide a valid reason. If you have legal claim to it then why not report it as stolen!

robinm1, Oct 2, 8:58am
If it has been sold, but not paid for in full, or something like that.and you want to repo it, the police will not get involved, as it is not stolen, it is just like an unpaid bill, a civil matter. You are just going to have to find it and hook it back yourself.

blue_van_man, Oct 2, 9:13am
you can check registered owners through the veda advantage website, not sur eif you can do it as a casual user, will cost, but could be worth a look!

neo_psy, Oct 2, 9:22am
Doesn't a VIR give you the registered owner!

crzyhrse, Oct 2, 9:56am
Not if it's not actually stolen.

crzyhrse, Oct 2, 9:58am
BTW you can't just go an 'repo' anything. There is a very strict procedure to follow if an object has been used as security against a loan. You simply haven't given enough information here to actually determine anything that can be used to give you advice.

nzroadtransport, Oct 2, 9:24pm
its not stolen.
sold it to a guy back in feb he hasnt paid for it. he has sold it on to someone els.
looked up carjam we still have security over it.

crzyhrse, Oct 2, 9:29pm
Then you need to follow the procedure set out here:
http://www.consumer.org.nz/reports/repossession

net_oz, Oct 2, 10:06pm
That's way too much hassle to do it that way. Just get a couple of boys and go pay a visit to the person you sold it to. Then ask him nicely to come for a drive to the person that now has it. Guaranteed to be all sorted quickly.

crzyhrse, Oct 2, 10:27pm
Yep. Then be charged with theft.

nzroadtransport, Oct 2, 10:32pm
made contact with a company to sort it out for us.
