oh well, i stand well and truly corrected. lol.
hard to belive though isnt it. you would think if they had direct evidence and an easy crime to solve they would jump. I still find it very hard to believe this is not the case but since I do believe you, I guess I'll have to stand corrected.

thats adifferent story to the one the OP stated. In his case, the cops were told exactly where the stolen bike was and who was in possession of it. One would think in a situation like that, and especially when an auto wreckers were involved,t hey would jump. Often those auto wreckers can be dealing in hundreds of thousands of $ worth of stolen autos.

I know what your saying but stolen cars/bikeshave become low priority to police and with the amount of 'other' crime out there you have to understand that policejust don't have the resorces.

Fair enough!
Lets blame john key and not vote for national. lol

You got it kaz.alot of misinformed posters or they're just jump'n to conclusions.

kazbanz, Nov 25, 4:37pm
Another possibility of course. Not mentioned by anyone.
lets say the wrecker concerned is and has been dealing in stolen bikes for awhile.
The cops are well aware of this and are organising a raid on the place
The very last thing they would want is one little bike tipping the wrecker off

Have you been watching Drug Lords!

Be very carefull if its an insurance write off, have heard of people unable to get them revinnedas VTNZsay the wholeframe is considerednon repairable .

kazbanz, Nov 25, 8:03pm
No I've got freinds who are cops.

friendly_prawn, Nov 25, 9:50pm
I agree, very possible. the more I think about it, there would have to be a very good reason why they would ignore a stolen vehicle at a wreckers.

hurricaneken, Nov 25, 10:10pm
What would happen if i got it and switched engine and everything over to another frame as that was what i was going to do but thort i would just revinn as it was, would the engine come back as stolen or not, im just curious as they only checked the frame number.

friendly_prawn, Nov 25, 10:13pm
why not just hassle the cops to get the full story off them then you'll know exactly where you stand.

hurricaneken, Nov 25, 10:16pm
ok they are going to call me back next week with the progress,

kazbanz, Nov 25, 11:16pm
don't bother with second hand whispers dude.
The bike has to have an engineers report. The engineers report decides if the bike is STRUCTURALLYstraight or needs some work or as you say is muntered.
How I generally judge it is if the frame looks bent then its generally unrepairable. Its pretty darn clear if it is. .

Did you get the appropriate paper work called vehicle of interest enquiry to the nz police reference material 35 from vtnz they fill there section in then just trot off to police station non sworn staff are able to fill in the rest.
