Had a 89 barina in at work today, but it was the reverse, we had to drain out at least 4 litres to get it back to the full mark. Black as soot & has a death rattle

LOL.You should. If you want some inspiration in order to get the gorse out of your pockets, post your suggestion on Patrol4x4.com, or offroadexpress.Don't forget to ask the good folks there how much it costs to fully recond a TD42.

Had the ex flat mates mini pull into the drive-way enroute from ChCh to Dunedin "there's a little red light on in the dash can you have a look at it please: flutters eyes and flaunts long legs.Hussy ! goes to to have a gander under the bonnet .asks her '(please open the bonnet)'
"Can not" legs retorts' (Why so ! )" I ask politely .while not staring at said legs " cos the bloody bonnet opening thing, broke two years ago and is just goes roundy roundy !"
Taking a deep breath and delving into the tool kit, pliersand stanley bar, had the bonnet open, in oh about 20 mins The dip stick had a tiny smidgen of oily goo on it and the radiator had steam coming out of it . Ask the Legs, if she had ever serviced the car! ,Brightly replys "oh yeah, you did it last ,when we were atthe Ch-Ch flat.
By my calculation, thats two and a half years ago and just over 35,000 klms
T'was a Mini GT 1250one of the last of them and tidy back in the day ,now its a student dog box for trash and musical instruments stuffed in it along with a sad looking beagle and a dozey boyfriend he was asleep the entire episode !
Put some oil in nice Mobil X turbo Dieseloil ,meant for my ute ! and slurped some Coolant and water into the rad,
As shesix point turnedher smoky Mini,in my truck contractors turn around area ,she waves out the window" thanks cheers, see you in two more years ! bye !
Womblesback inside ,missus hisses though clenched teeth,"
Who was that Tart ! and when are you going to change my oil ,like you said, " Ha, the empty oil container in my hand ,had nothing to say.
nice legs, was worth it ,$45 top notch oil and coolant ,bargain !

Mate of mine. Skyline GTS25T owned for 5 years (80,000km) changed it once when it stopped running due to lack of oil after about 3 years (he never checked it either). It never seized so I drained the couple of litres left and replaced filter and fresh oil and it went fine again. Left it for another 2 years before another service then sold it soon after.

Mate finally got around to changing the oil in his corona. Hadn't done it in 5 years. There was about 2L of warm marmite in there.

My 179 gets changed every 6 months, regardless of mileage (normally 2k-3k). Her VN is the same, although the manual recommends every 5000k's. I write the mileage and date on the new oil filters.

It's not my mate with the '87 4WS Prelude. Drove for 5yrs without changing his oil and then the camshafts seized in the head one day and it was all over.
Saw a brand new holden viva with 60ishk on it had never ever had an oil change in its life. just the oil filled from factory. we sold it new, they drove a year, didn't come back for wof. drove another year, no wof, no rego = plates dead (still not serviced) drove another year until tyre burst - down to the wires both fronts. all good fitted spare, drove another 3 months till finally they were tracked down and car repossessed - a cup of sludge in sump, refilled with oil.clack clack clack clack motor stuffed.
Also they carried their two under 5's with them regularly, never mind the dodgy tyres

I seem to recall reading (on here) of a wealthy individual who purchased a new car and drove it until the engine expired from lack of lubricant. It took some years for that to happen.
