Hi can someone whoes done it tell me is it easier to replace spark leads from the top or underneath the motor, and is it a good idea to unclip dizzy cap and clean inside connections and rotor end .thanks

Definitely a good idea to remove the cap and check and clean it. Better still just replace it and the rotor so the air gap is correct. These are known for killing coils because people don't due to poor accessibility of the distributor cap and plain old laziness.
Last time I did one I changed the leads from below.

They are great fun! Not. Easier to do on a hoist where you have access from top and bottom, it can be done from the top if you don't value your knuckles and hands very much.
