Just read a Fords mag and had an article about Glen Seatons old EL falcon V8 supercar and they said it still holds the record from 97 of 307kph down Conrod. I woulda thought they were going a we bit quicker/faster now, sure its got the bendy bit now as well. I thought the newer would top 315 plus a least. or do they need a bit longer bit of road.

They hit the rev limiter so cannot go faster

They are limited by speed limiter and gear ratio

Yeah and apparently when they introduced that limit there was an outcry.and we think Kiwi's are pissheads.

Yep - the lads hit it.
Plus. I remember reading something about the downforce they run slowing them down a bit too.

I seem to remember the previous record was 320kph set by Klaus Ludwig I think it was in one of the Texaco Sierras 20 odd years ago, mind you that was before the chase was put in.Given the humps that used to be at the end of the straight in those days thats pretty scary stuff.

I think the Mitsubishi Starion Turbo did well over 300 in the mid 80's down conrod.
