Ok, for cheap licencing (registration) it is 40 yrs. There are also rigid timeframes to be met for veteran, vintage, post vintage, post 60's etc classification set out in the vintage car club regulations. Regards being merely called a 'classic'- that is a definition hard to define, some bikes are classic as soon as they are made, some are simple commuters that will never be seen as anything else, regardless of how old they are. Some people see something as a classic because it was something they wanted/had in their youth, sometimes a race history or mechanical difference makes a classic, and sometimes rarity deems something as classic through sheer availablity.

Yeap, at 40 years the rego is cheaper, its no longer under continuous licensing and it takes 2 years for the plates to go dormant.
