Help With Motorbike Chain Please

wonder_b, Feb 1, 3:48am
apparently there is a man on trademe somewhere who was making/fixing the chains for the kids small Chinese motorbikes. will provide exact details of the bike if can find someone who can help. long story short, brought son one of those small kids bikes. after only a short time riding the chain broke. I have been to everywhere imaginable around whangarei to find a link to fix it. found out today that there were 2 of these bikes sold in whangarei, and the other owner has already been in with the exact same problem, and that this company has hunted round for them and the part is not available in new zealand. hence why the bikes where in the 'travelling auction'. the original company couldn't honour the warranty, so basically they were stock dumped through the auction, so no warranty.( is what i have been told anyway ). so i dont need lectures etc, i would just like to try this last attempt to try and fix my sons bike, before i have to face the fact that i have thrown away a few hundred dollars. Or another alternative is if someone else has one of these bikes that is no longer running because of other issues, id be happy to buy your parts etc ( as they also have other major issues ) Thanks, and hope someone can help. Cheers, Shell

wonder b -Motorbike chain is not difficult to sort out regardless of whatmake etc. My recomendation would be to pay the money for a better quality chain with the same pitch/roller size and perhaps a tiny bit wider if needs be between the plates. -I honestly feel the retailer put this in the too hard basket OR you aren't prepared to buy a complete chain.
Into my head has leapt two options. 1) reynolds industries in avondale --they do a huge range of chains.
2) ContactNewman systems--They specialise in the little bikes outa china.

Actually-theres a third thought. Why not get a chain/sprocket set fitted that uses normal chain!

is it a 2 or a 4stroke!if a four then its most likely 420pitch and if its a 2stroke then itl be that small honda timing chain looking one,If it is then im sure it would be easily obtained

2 stroke. 8mm pitch. shorter link then normal . waiting to hear from a trader, but will give that Newman systems place a call tomorrow . have taken it into every lawnmower & chainsaw, and engineer supply shop on Whangarei,, is a very oddball size. Last option for us would be to have a new sprocket etc made or make one ( engineer hubby ). Have to weigh up weather the cost is really worth it
