oh and by the way on Dyno it was producing 218WHP (try to find a genuine 1998 Integra with full standard parts produce anything more than 200WHP. If you find one, its not genuine, or your lying.
But you are right. It does not open gradually. It just switches lobes via oil pressure in the control valve. NZ VTiR has the butterfly, JDM has the butterfly GSR has the butterfly.
Vtec does not "fully engage" at 6500. Once again and to repeat it a last time. What you are hearing is the secondary butterfly open. you should feel no difference from when vtec is active than when its not. If you do then its in one where it has the cams replaced with one more agressive (or other performance modifications and have a controler or the ecu has been reprogrammed) or there is something wrong with your car.

I have (and still do) Driven over 2000 Different Vtec Hondas. And once again done all training on them. As said earlier if you feel or hear vtec kick in you have an issue or some huge mods.
Platinum plugs wont make a difference and try running a 5W40 grade

Yea you hear it at 6500rpm. which is the butterfly opening. NOT VTEC.

Don't know about Integras but you sure as hell felt and heard it kick in on my 2.2 Vetec Prelude. At about from memory around 4000 rpm.

Prelude engines were different kettle of fish. Cam wise, performance wise etc.

Take the blody car to a Toyota dealership where they know what they are doing.

If Vtec isint engaging check for fault codes as it will come up with one. The rev range that it engages in WONT CHANGE unless you have a vtec controler or the ECU has been re-programmed. The only systems where vtec will engage at different rev ranges is in the i-Vtec which your car doesnt have.
I have already said what oil to use. Platnum plugs will help slightly with fuel economy and you wont have to change them as often as normal plugs. As long as there the right temp plugs your fine in that aspect.
So in summary check for fault codes and if there are none take it into a workshop so someone can take a look at it.

I find no point in arguing about this. Obviously we have differences of opinions. So lets leave it at that. Its Futile.
