hi i have just purchase a 96 Honda odyssey and the temp gauge wont move when driving on open road, but when it sits idling for 5 to 10 mins the gauge will move to half way. but oncecar moves gauge goes back down, any ideas on what the problem could be.

I wouldn't bother checking it, just get a new thermostat for it.Very common on older Hondas, remember to also get the rubber seal for it if its not included in the pack.You will almost certainly find that its partially stuck open.

As above the thermostat or the gauge possibly I have seen it on the odd Honda (rare)

Thermostat is stuck open. Easy to do. Very accessable. 2 10mm bolts holding it in. And costs about 30 bucks. Keep the coolant (if its in good condition) and re fill it when your done.
