Following on from the most reliable thread, I am interested to hear peoples experiences on the least reliable car or cars they have owned.
For me it was an Opel Calibra (total sack of poo!)
Followed closely buy various BMW's ( they dont stand for big money wasted for nothing lol!)
Interesting to see if some makes stand out or if people have just bought Friday cars if you get my drift!

1999 Renault Laguna Turbo Diesel.
It only actually broke down twice but also only just limped home a good few times; bits of trim regularly broke or dropped off/apart. There never was a day that everything worked properly, however it was a very economical, comfortable, spacious car to drive.
It was written off by a sixteen wheel dumper truck that virtually drove over it when parked in the end which was the best thing to happen to it.

The thing would blow the top off the piston at the oil ring groove if I tried cruising at 60mph. Did it on the dessert road once and I had to get to Tauranga, so pulled over to side of road, pulled out the 2 pushrods and rattled all the way to Tauranga on 3 pots. Picked up a s/h piston from a wreaker, pulled sump off, cleaned out the metalflake oil and fitted the new piston from below. Drove back to Palmy next day. Did use a bit of oil after that lol.

It would have to be my Legacy, 2 blown alternators, within 2 years, the second one was the one I had freshly rebuilt, the one before that was replaced by the previous owner (receipt came with the car)

1983 Mitsy Sigma 2 litre, the first of the front wheel drive models, the electric overdrive auto gearbox gave me a few worries when i first bought it in 1993 (at 90,000 k's). As usual, the auto trans started skipping in and out of gears, just out of its 1 month warranty.
